Free Corporate Headshots Draw with Kevin Clark: Winner Announcement

Thank you all the Realtors and Brokers and everyone else that visited our booth at the 2008 REBGV Conference and Tradeshow at Canada Place. As everyone that chatted with us knows, we were offering a FREE PHOTOSHOOT to one lucky winner with our business card draw. After mixing and shuffling the nearly 300 business cards, Mr. Kevin Clark himself donned his metaphorical blindfold and pulled out our winner.

Congratulations to Ghazal Ighani of Prudential Sussex Realty in West Vancouver, BC. You are the winner of an all inclusive photoshoot package with Kevin Clark at our spacious Yaletown studio. We contacted Ghazal yesterday and she was very excited about her win and hopes to arrange her shoot within the next 2-4 weeks. We of course look forward to working with her as well along with everyone else that we had the pleasure to meet at the Tradeshow.

New Website Launch – Kevin Clark Headshots

Announcing the new dedicated headshot website from Vancouver based photographer Kevin Clark – www.kevinclarkheadshots.com

For the past month or so, we’ve been working hard, scouring through all the images taken in 2007 to select our favorite shots to post on our new headshot website. We’ll still be at www.kevinclarkphotography.com, which is next on the list for an overhaul, but the new home for all of Kevin’s best and most recent headshots is now www.kevinclarkheadshots.com

One of the things we love so much about this new website is how fun it is to scroll through the galleries. Simply click on the gallery title, then to advance through the images all you have to do is click on the image itself and the stream of headshots will stroll by in front of your eyes, one image at a time. We really wanted a site that was dedicated to the headshot industry, and this site is just that. The links page is full of helpful sites for actors, writers, agents and also lots of places to stay or eat if you’re coming in from out of town, or just curious about where to grab lunch after your shoot.

This new site is both more simple, and more informative than the old site. So check out Vancouver’s newest and most dynamic headshots website and let us know what you think. You can email or call us anytime at 604-669-7577 or feel free to leave a comment on this or any other post.

This Wonderful Life @ Pacific Theatre

I was lucky enough this weekend to catch an amazing performance of ‘This Wonderful Life’ (aka It’s a Wonderful Life) at the Pacific Theatre here in Vancouver. Dan Amos was the man in the spotlight that night, literally the only one. Kevin photographed the image for the poster some time ago, and since I’d heard about the play, I’ve been wondering how exactly it could be translated into a one man show. I’m no theatre buff, and it was only last Christmas that I watched ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ the movie for the first time, so I just sorta shut my mouth and hoped for the best. Watching it last year was a powerful experience…it was great to finally know what all the fuss was about. Amos’s performance was no less powerful and joyfully enthusiastic. Within a few minutes he had me and the rest of the audience, including my Mum, engrossed in the story and watching it play out in front of us. Aided by his own comical narration and only a handful of simple props, Amos was able to seamlessly transistion between characters and scenes and really bring the story to life on the modest stage, fully deserving the long bout of cheers and applause from the audience at the end. Now I’d love to tell you all about it and you might think, ‘why not, I’ve seen the movie a million times and know the story inside and out, there’s no way you could spoil the performance for me’…but let me tell you, Amos really creates while he’s out there and gives the audience a very unique experience. So…go see it! There are still a few performances left before the season is over and it would be a great early Christmas present for your family. You can check out the theatre’s calendar and buy tickets at www.pacifictheatre.org

This Wonderful Life

And if you’ve never seen the movie, go rent it or buy the DVD, it was remastered and re-released a few years ago. Or if you have 2 hrs to kill right now, here’s the low-res movie posted below found from a link on Google somewhere. Enjoy!

Kevin Clark Client Update: Maria Manna, Jazz Singer

A very large congratulations to send out to Maria Manna who recently signed with Beverly Delich of Silver Lining Management. Maria, who is quite the talented Jazz singer, came in for some headshots back in August of this year. Beverly, who has managed several musicians that we’ve photographed over the years, had just been in recently for a shoot with another one of our mutual clients, Rachel Landrecht. As luck would have it, Beverly was in the market for new talent to add to her roster and we were able to hook her up with Maria. We got a call only days later that Beverly had signed Maria and was on her way to building and entire promo package.

Maria Manna

We quickly got some images ready for her and here it is, barely November and she has already launched a slick website which we urge you to check out and sample her music (ahem…and Kevin’s photos). Her web address is www.mariamanna.com but you can also check out her blog at www.mariamannamusic.com/blogs and keep caught up with all the news and updates with her career.

Thanks to Maria as well for a fun shoot…come back soon Maria, we can never have enough clients singing during their photoshoots!

“Please, sign me up to make bad American tv!” // Client Updates: Sabrina Prada

Hi Friends, Sabrina here…

It has been as few as two weeks or as long as two years that you have known about my relocation from Seattle to Vancouver. I thank you for every moment of encouragement you have given me along the way, and I wanted to let you know a few exciting bits of news:
Big news:
–I now have an agent in Vancouver, Mel Hawthorne of ACT Talent. I’m delighted that she invited me to join her roster and I’m eager for us both to make money together! Some folks may be a bit burnt out on making “bad American tv” but I’m the exception… “Please, sign me up to make bad American tv!”
–I was elected to the Board (and even the Executive Committee, as Secretary!) of Women in Film and Television Vancouver (WIFTV) and I’m honored to join such a motivated group of women in making the world a better place, particularly through advancing and celebrating women in screen-based media. A big thanks to Flash Forward 2007 for motivating my involvement!
–My family and I are moving to Vancouver officially by the end of this month, as our sons will start school at Kitsilano Secondary School and Trafalgar Elementary, just after Labour Day.

Some dates:
–Thanks to my involvement with WIFTV, my social calendar is definitely picking up, in fact, I’m working on two big events, 2007 Martini Madness and the 2008 Spotlight Awards Gala and Silent Auction. Read on for those dates!
–Martini Madness is an industry party that celebrates the kick-off of the Vancouver International Film Festival. This year it will be held at Macaroni Grill on Wednesday, September 26, 7pm-midnight. I am recruiting actor-volunteers who would like to dress up as a “screen legend” (we have sponsorship from a local costume company) and mingle interactively with the crowd, adding ambience and helping us sell raffle tickets. If you know someone who could pass for Humphrey Bogart or Vivian Leigh, and who has the right kind of personality for socializing (and would like the attention and exposure to 800+ industry folks….) have them contact me ASAP! We already have a “Marilyn Monroe” but we’re definitely looking for more characters!
–The Spotlight Awards Gala is still in the planning stages, so I don’t want to reveal too much yet, but you can definitely set aside March 6-8, 2008 for the WIFTV Film Festival which culminates in the Awards Gala on Saturday, March 8! We are moving the venue for 2008 and it’s bound to be urban, chic and a “Great Adventure.”

Dates of immediate importance:
–Tonight (August 2) is a special edition of the Cold Reading Series, recently re-ignited at a new location (the Beaumont Studios), which will benefit WIF. It will feature scripts by WIF members, hot-off-the-presses info about our activities and (probably) little gifts and give-away goodies. I’ve been promised the beer will be cold!
–Monday, August 6 – this is the date by which we would like to know where we will live in Vancouver, so I am putting the word out to all my Vancouver friends, since word-of-mouth is the best way. We have a few leads (and appointments) via Craig’s List and the UBC housing community board, but if you have heard of anyone who is suddenly in the position of having to rent a 3-bedroom apartment or house (dog-friendly preferred) I’D LOVE TO KNOW! Our geographical area is west of Granville, east of Alma, south of 4th, and north of 41st. Kitsilano/Kerrisdale, in other words, with some flexibility about location and price.

Thanks for reading! As I said at the start, I’m grateful for everyone’s encouragement, as we have undertaken a remarkable task of relocating to a new city AND country. Thank you for being so welcoming!

Cheers!
Sabrina
